Happy Friday! Top 5 Songs To Drive To Today

Why hello vast pool of infinite magnitude that is the internet. It's 7 in the morning, on what looks like it'll be a glorious day here in the Northern suburbs of Chicago, and the weekend's almost here! So get you're convertible out, get the top down, and blast our top 5 auto-tunes (as in automobile not the production method) of the day. The sun's out, the skies are blue, and it's time to get ready to enjoy a weekend of... thunderstorms. So get out and enjoy the weather while you can!

Today's Top 5 Auto-Tunes ("They see me rollin', they hatin'"):

1) 'We Can't Stop' by Miley Cyrus: Okay, so Miley may not be everyone's cup of tea, but do not tell me you haven't burst out singing 'Party In The USA' or 'The Climb' at least once in your life. This chick can't be tamed, and if 'We Can't Stop' is any indication of what's to come on Miley's new album, then we are definitely in for a treat! Miley shows off her new take-off from Disney pop princess into a real artist, with this track being the ultimate chilled-out party track. I have a feeling this song will be on all the radio stations, and in everyone's head, all summer long. Although the song mentions girls with big butts and partying all night long, there really is a nice message to the song, which in short is to not give a shite what anyone else thinks and kinda just do what you want. Luckily, this song is chill enough for the car, and it reminds me of the chilled attitude of Katy Perry's 'Teenage Dream' or Lady Gaga's 'Yoü And I'. Take a listen to the song below!

2) 'Standing On The Sun' by Beyoncé: The Queen has been all over the place lately, with her picture EVERYWHERE! With her new Pepsi, H&M, and L'Oreal campaigns, along with the pregnancy rumors, her appearance in the film 'Epic', and of course her 2013 Superbowl performance in February and the mega-success that is the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour (which begins it's North American leg later this June), Queen Bey has had a massive opportunity to reach a MASSIVE audience this year. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem she's taking this opportunity to the fullest as she hasn't actually released any new material (to buy that is) other than her inspirational anthem 'Rise Up' from the film 'Epic'. From the snippets and clips we HAVE heard, I really think 'Standing On The Sun' is the perfect summer song. Featured in both the H&M campaign and the L'Oreal commercials, the song has got the Caribbean-beach vibe that is perfect for a summer tune. Take a listen to a fan-made extended version below, and watch her perform the song live for the first time during a Mrs. Carter Show date below that!

3) 'Get Lucky' by Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams: Let's be honest, pretty much everything involving Pharrell Williams is pretty awesome, and 'Get Lucky' is no different. Although at first I wasn't too sure about this song, it really has grown on me and I can definitely cruise around to this song. It's like a strange cauldron filled with a mix of Hiphop beats, Alternative flair, and a little bit of Pop and R&B mixed in too. It reminds me of Justine Timberlake in his 'Sexy Back' days. A nice summer hit, easy to listen to, and a song that almost seems made for driving playlists. Already all over the radio, I have a feeling this song's only gonna get bigger and bigger. If you haven't heard it, listen to it below. If you're like me and aren't feeling it on the first listen, give it another chance, it may just grow on you!

4) 'Big Jet Plane' by Angus and Julia Stone: If you haven't heard of Angus and Julia Stone, then you are seriously missing out! Hailing from the land down under (*coughcough Australia), I first encountered Angus and Julia Stone from some Aussies I met whilst traveling in East Africa. After the first listen, I was hooked, and it's not just 'Big Jet Plane' that's great, they've got plenty others. Currently working on their solo careers, the brother-sister duo has a couple albums under their belt, and I really hope that someday the world really gets to hear them, cause they are one of the best. They've got that California coastal vibe that everyone loves, and in my opinion it's like listening to a modern day Beach Boys. Listen to 'Big Jet Plane' below and check out some of their other songs (some of my favorites include 'Yellow-Brick Road' and 'Santa Monica Dream').

5) 'Don't Save Me' by Haim: Now, if you haven't heard of Haim, you've probably been living under a rock, cause they are on the rise lately. After their stellar performance during the Chime for Change concert in London a couple weeks ago, and their cool and chill vibe, they're really setting themselves up for success. I saw them live last year when they were opening the UK leg of Florence and the Machine's tour, and I fell in love after the first song. The California sisters are the epitome of modern rock, with a sound leaning towards that of Alanis Morissette or a modern day Stevie Nicks. If you haven't heard any of Haim's magical material, then you better get cracking, and you can start with their hit 'Don't Save Me' below. You're Welcome!
